Welcome, Hoyas! Are you contemplating a job search or career transition? Alumni of all School of Foreign Service graduate programs have full access to most the Graduate Career Center programs and services.
WalshWorks Database and Resources
The WalshWorks portal serves as the hub for the GCC event schedule, graduate profiles, and job postings curated for our student population and alumni. To access the WalshWorks system, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, graduation year, and program. We will send you an email with a password to enter the system.
- Job Postings – WalshWorks maintains a database of thousands of posted positions in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors requiring various levels of experience.
- Career Coaching – As an alumnus, you may use WalshWorks to schedule a one-on-one coaching session in person, on Skype, or over the phone with a career development professional to discuss your job search needs.
- Career and Industry Events – Alumni are welcome to take part in many of our employer information sessions, career fairs, and other job-related events. Most require an RSVP through WalshWorks.
Alumni may subscribe to the Career Bulletin, the GCC’s newsletter. The Career Bulletin contains announcements and job information relevant to both current students and alumni. It is available via email and is also stored in the WalshWorks Document Library. Email us at email@example.com to subscribe, including your name, program, and graduation year.
Network with Other Alumni
The GCC encourages alumni to maintain and expand their networking activities. For information about how to stay in touch with other Hoyas, visit the Georgetown Alumni Online website. Here, you can find out about upcoming alumni events, locate a contact through Georgetown University’s Alumni Career Network or join an alumni club in your area. We also encourage you to join the center’s LinkedIn Group.
Become a Hoya Gateway Volunteer
Hoya Gateway connects current students with alumni for one-on-one, career-related conversations. It is also an opportunity for alumni to have a meaningful interaction with current students while helping them start their own professional network. This unique and innovative program is the first of its kind; participating alumni are pioneers of Hoya Gateway and advocates for the strength of the Georgetown network. Becoming a Hoya Gateway volunteer is an opportunity to share your professional experience and expertise and help Georgetown students to build and shape their professional networks.
The Center provides a number of handouts designed to help you with your job or internship search. These include sample resumes, tips on interviewing and salary negotiation and how to write an effective cover letter. Stop by the GCC to take some handouts or access them in the Document Library in the WalshWorks system.
